Bark in the Dark

On the night of an extremely bright Full Moon:
going Eastbound on Oak Street

the event: "Bark in the Dark"
It was another dog walk in Fort Collins. This time it was to benefit the Search and Rescue Dogs of Colorado.

The African drum group "Fale" provided entertainment
In addition, the World Famous Samba band "Bloco em Foco" performed (i.e., even more drum music!)

Mystery Dog Park

On the north side of town:

It's a corgi corral!

It says it's a DOG PARK!

The location is 40 36 25 N 105 05 09 W. There were no dogs there when I visited. Dog owners within half a mile of this park do not know where it is or if it really exsists! I had heard of it, and it took me about three months to find it. ...another mystery solved.

Annie the Railroad Dog Parade!

This year we made it to the parade:

Duncan Madog was there, of course!

We saw the statue last September here and then found Annie's grave here. Now all we needed was to get our own dog here and then get on over to the parade.
Our life is now complete!

Plunge Yer Pooch!

Take your dog to the City Park Pool and Cool it!
video
It's the Annual Pooch Plunge!

Wow, is summer coming to an end so soon? We've never swam in the City Park pool, 'prolly' because we belong to a high class health club that serves booze at pool side. But here in the 'city' they like to mark the final days of summer by opening up the pool for "dogs only" before the pool is drained. It seems that Duncan Madog had a good time, but he's a little timid swimming along side the big dogs-- it's those short legs of his I figure!

Here's a slightly better resolution video on YouTube:

The BVKC Dog Show!

Duncan MaDog was not welcome here:
At the Doggie Salon

Show Dogs

and more show dogs!

Last week-end at "The Ranch" or the Larimer County Fairgrounds and Events Complex we just had to check out the Dog Show. Duncan MaDog could not come because "ordinary" dogs could be carrying the canine herpes virus which could quickly spread to the show dogs. No big thing, except Duncan would have had a good laugh at all the fuss the dog handlers were exhibiting at the doggie salon.
...and there's nothing like the Oster 2-speed forced air power dryer to ensure a dry dog on show day!

DUNCAN MADOG PIX

Here are some pictures of Duncan (From his Facebook):
He is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, mostly red-brown color on top.

White underneath with white and brown spotted socks!

Intelligent in appearance with nice white sharp teeth.

Can sit on a chair

Or on the lawn.

Loves the snow!

video
Runs fast!

Duncan Madog is enrolled in doggie school scheduled to start on April 28th.  He could place AP calculus, but we believe he would be better off learning the basics his first time around.

We Got Dog!

America runs on Dunkin'
Introducing Duncan, our new little dog!
Today we went to the PWCCR or the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of the Rockies and rescued this little guy! We are calling him Duncan, or full Welsh name: "Duncynn Ma dog" He's kind of a strange corgi, but we love him and he seems to like us as well. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw more of him in this blog!

Christmas 2008

Hey, It's little Joe...

Ain't it the cutest little thing!

Ah, but it's NOT a Corgi !

We got to Denver airport and in our plane, taxied over to the runway and then broke the rudder! Had to change planes, took six hours longer to travel, but we made it into Chicago eventually!

Railroad dog revisited

Remember Annie the Railroad Dog?
There is a statue of her in front of the main library, but I had heard that her grave site is someplace else.

I had asked around town. Some people believed that it existed, but where they knew not. Even Roadside America does not give the exact details.

I missed it about four times because I didn't think that there would be a metal gate and brickwork protecting the dog's grave site. Must be lots of disrespecting dogs around town!

Annie, The Railroad Dog

We were in Denver last night to see Avenue Q. It's sort of like an adult version of Sesame Street.
Check it out!

Annie the Railroad Dog: This is not the first time we have seen statues of dogs.
Here is the statue of Annie at the Fort Collins main library building.

...and this is Greyfriars Bobby in Edinbourgh.

I just found out that there was a community celebration in honor of Annie the Railroad Dog on August 23! Oops. Maybe next year!
