The Lake Zurich Traditional Karate Organization (TKO) has been
dedicated to teaching Shotokan Karate to Lake Zurich and surrounding
communities since 1986. The TKO organization currently provides quality
instructions thought the Lake Zurich Park District. TKO has many
affiliated clubs throughout the Chicago area which compete in Amateur
Athletic Union (AAU) sponsored competition at the local, state,
regional, national, and international levels. Many TKO members are
current and former State, National, and Junior Olympic
Champions.Shotokan Karate is a Japanese martial arts that teaches a
method of self defense. Emphasis is placed on developing coordination,
balance, timing, reflex actions, self esteem, and of course a specific
style of self defense.
Evening weekday classes are held at
Buffalo Grove Park District Buildings at 675 Old Mill Grove Road,
Building B in Lake Zurich and involves a range of activities, including:
Beginning Youth Classes:: For students ages 7-14 are from 5:00-6:00 pm.
Intermediate Youth Classes: For students ages 7-14 are from 6:00-7:00 pm.
Cardio Karate: Non-Contact Adult Exercise Program 7:00-8:00 pm.
Adult Classes: For anyone over the age of 15 are from 8:00-9:00 pm.
Weekend classes are held on Saturday at the Lake Zurich Barn:
Shining Star Pre-Karate, ages 5-6 from 10:30-12:00 am.
Advanced
Classes: For any youth or adult who has advanced past the level of
white belt and is interested in accelerating their karate development,
12:00-1:00 pm.
