Teaching Vets

At the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital:

Dog Head MRI

The CSU Animal Clinic is just down the road a bit. I pass it often on the Mason Trail whenever I’m riding into Old Town. They just had their annual open house so I came over to take a peek!

Doggie Xray

Dog?  Operation

Wow, somebody’s got a dog that looks like a freaking hyena! Hyenas are more related to the family Herpestidae (mongooses and meerkats) than the family of dogs (Canidae).

Animal dietary kitchen

Duncan Madog can’t just walk into the kitchen!

Student Activities Booths

There are so many vet hospitals in town! Now I know why!

They had a number of activities at the open house including:

  • opportunity to try milking a goat
  • farm animal arts and crafts
  • trivia games
  • mock surgery for youngsters
  • a petting zoo
  • balloon animals
  • police dog demos

… and all kinds of clubs and associations on hand to answer your questions:

  • American Association of Bovine Practitioners
  • American Association of Feline Practitioners
  • American Animal Hospital Association
  • American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners
  • Behavioral Club
  • Christian Veterinary Fellowship Club
  • Diagnostic Imaging Club
  • Lab Animal Research Club
  • Pain Management Club
  • Pathologics Club
  • Shelter Club
  • And my favorite, The Buckhorn Valley Kennel Club

(We’re going to take Duncan Madog to the BVKC remedial sheep-herding trials in August to see what he can do! Pembroke Corgis are supposed to be natural sheep herding dogs, don’t cha’ know?)
