If you are a UNIX geek you will understand…
Geeks have advanced to three syllables!
Did you know that Ubuntu 10.04 is Here! It’s time for a change. Your computer can be faster- it can be fast, fun and easier to use! It’s a distribution of Linux which is free Unix which ain’t anything like MS-DOS, or CP/M. I had to see what FRPCUG had to say!
FRPCUG
They were giving a demo of some of the new Linux distributions for FRPCUG members and some non-members (like me). The FRPCUG stands for Front Range Pee Cee User’s Group; Note: Some iMAC users are members!
Some Sort of LINUX
You know those damn digital projectors? I used to do presentations all the time. While I would follow these instructions or similar for connecting laptops to projectors, I have found it most important to COME IN 30 MINUTES EARLY AND MAKE SURE THE EQUIPMENT WORKS! That didn’t happen here; The projector only worked for 3 or 4 minutes out of a 60 minute discussion on Linux. It was total crap!
I see this kind of thing happen and I watch them try to get the projector to work at various meetings around town. Sure, it’s not rocket science, but I don’t know what it is! Some things never change. Ha! …and that iMAC user member in the group?: he had a hard time trying not to laugh!
