Duncan Madog ready to drop off a ‘sample’

Yet another adventure for the dog

It’s about time Duncan got his picture in here since he has his own category and needs to be recognized from time to time. Also, this is an opportunity to bike around town with a heavy load (Duncan) in preparation for the great feast of the Ragbrai starting July 20, 2014.

No Parade Today

Monday, March 10th, 2014

Duncan and crew were getting ready for the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade, and then this happened:

Possible torn ACL, no broken bones

There must have been one of those squirrels out in the back yard that morning. Duncan the dog does not like squirrels and while he was out making sure our yard was free of those pests, he may had injured his back left leg– at least when he came back in he was limping. Our local vet was booked solid, and since the vet said he was concerned about pain (and it would be three days before he could see Duncan) he said to take him to the emergency vet, either the CSU school or the VCA in Loveland. So no parade, although someone offered to have Duncan ride on a flatbed truck, we decided Duncan had enough excitement for the day.

Then this happened

There is this cat who lives at the Armstrong hotel. The night after the parade some goofy kids (or young adults) got miffed when they couldn’t book a room at the hotel so they scooped up the cat in the hotel lobby. This made national headlines! The goofy kids (or young adults) probably took the cat a block or two and then let it go, but the police were involved and security tapes were examined for possible clues. Please note:

1) The cat came back.

2) Frickin’ cat has its own Facebook !

Animal Pix:

The FCMOD’s BFF

The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery has a rather large display in the front lobby that has a live Black Footed Ferret. On this day the ferret was taking a bath in its water dish.

Duncan Madog in the snow

The dog named Duncan was out frolicking in the snow. SNOW! Finally some moisture in the foothills. Currently the snowpack levels are 75% of normal so we could be in for an interesting summer.

…And apparently the image sizer on the WordPress app is stuck on “Medium” for the moment.

Time for a Duncan Madog post

Some details about Duncan Madog’s trailer:

It’s an old Mongoose kiddie trailer that I purchased at a rummage sale for $20. The actual trailer was in fair condition, but it wasn’t designed for riding with a dog.  In order to make it dog friendly I simply cut a piece of quarter inch plywood into the proper shape so that it would fit snugly onto the fame and over the shelf that would normally be used as the baby seat in the trailer.

The plywood base (covered with the official Welsh Tartan cloth of the Madog clan) and water dish.

I cut a square hole in the plywood so that a plastic food container would fit. This becomes a “sunken” water bowl for Duncan and it insures that Duncan is properly hydrated. He gets to have a dab of vanilla ice cream in the dish when it’s really hot out and we are near the Walrus Ice Cream store.

When it’s all together, it looks like this.

There is a gray colored leash attached to the upper left to keep Duncan inside and safe from the occasional wandering squirrel.  On the right is a flag pole made from a curtain rod. The flag (outside of the photo) is Duncan’s Welsh family coat of arms.

Duncan Madog behind a Black Sheep as is natural for a herding dog.

We went to the local dog park for some face time (or butt time) with some of Duncan’s favorite canine friends.

Thanks for your time!

Duncan was rescued by the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of the Rockies (PWCCR) where he was found wandering alone in southern Wyoming.  He likes to have his belly rubbed and loves to travel around town in his little doggie cart.  Duncan Madog would be more than happy to be your face book friend. Check him out sometime!

Well, it is St. Patty’s Day:

The Matt on the street

Well, we didn’t attend the parade this year; Duncan Madog would have been happy to be in the parade like he was last year so he could get his mug in the local paper again but alas, he is still depressed from being thrown off of Facebook because he is a DOG. Makes me wonder what’s this world coming to? Oh well, we’ve got a date at MaryEllen’s for corned beef and cabbage tonight so life’s not all that bad…

One Year of Dog

One year ago today we got Dog!

Duncan Madog with Santa Claus

The Duncan has been with us for one year. He’s been to most of the doggie events in Fort Collins like “Bark in the Dark”, “Annie the Railroad Dog”, and “The Pooch Plunge”.  He’s been on local TV and in the papers at least three times and everybody on our block knows his name. He’s got over 1500 Facebook friends.

What a dog!

happy St. Pat’s day!

Time for some animal pictures!

CSU RAM

There was a parade in Fort Collins and everyone apparently was Irish on that day. Jeanne, Duncan and I found a group in the parade to join and we just started walking! Hey, My knee feels OK!

The Famous Duncan Madog! (from the Coloradoan’s Sunday edition, Page 3)

Of course the parade was last Saturday, but we had a party on Wednesday and cooked up some corned beef and cabbage for a group of friends! Even Duncan Madog got to eat and drink Irish! Not bad for a Welsh Corgi!

Party Animal!

Notes:

1) There are MORE dogs in Fort Collins parades than any other place in the world!

2) DO NOT FEED YOUR DOG CABBAGE! TRUST ME!
