Radiant Floor Panel tiles, cheap!

Found these at the Habitat store

These are radiant floor panel tiles used to guide heating tubes under flooring. The panel reminded me of the facade at the Institut du monde arabe building in Paris, France and it seemed that the repeating pattern might be useful for an art project or two.

Musical Instrument Display wall hanging

I attached some of my ‘guitars’ onto one of these panels and hoisted the panel up to about 2 feet from the ceiling on the South wall at the Fort Collins Creator Hub.  I may need to take it down when the wall is cleaned and painted (soon?) and at that time I will add a wooden frame as the plastic panel tends to warp a bit (it’s intended to lay flat on a smooth floor, not hang on a wall!)

More stuff at the hackerspace!

A gift from B&N

The big maker fair robot display was given to us by the folks at Barnes and Noble for helping them this year with the maker fair. We also made some money from BN sales, but we don’t know how much yet.

New Shelving

The pallet racks are being stacked up and will serve as a temporary separation of the work area and allow for storage and work table space. This project is moving slowly, but it IS moving!

What just happened?

Duncan Madog supported Trump:

Dog got down

It just got real (See Signs, Trump Dilemma) and now we have a president-elect who is orange in color. I can’t understand how any woman would vote for this guy, but apparently some did and a lot of voters just didn’t vote so…

Look for plenty of ‘deer in the headlights’ moments, continued tweets that make no sense and just plain ‘made for TV’ bullshit we’ve all seen before. Nobody wins.

HUB at the bookstore

Saturday, November 5th, 2016

It was yet another ‘Mini Maker Fair’, this time at the local Barnes and Noble bookstore on College Avenue. This event was sort of last minute, but we were able to pull it off with a number of musical instruments thanks to the Cigar Box Guitar Special Interest Group and the Air Pressure Rocket Launcher Auxiliary.

Kendangan Time again

Friday, November 4th, 2016

I don’t get to do this too often:

I’m playing a kendangan drum

It’s a two headed drum used in Gamelan (In this case, it was the local Java Gamelan group Arcinda) . The kendangan is essential to Indonesian puppet theater (Wayang).

Bad Puppet

I chose to hold up the bad boy character of the show and I had planned to Photoshop a shadow on the wall (Trump’s head?) but I don’t have time for that. I’m also not going to be a wayang performer although the art is still quite popular in Java today.

Denver Art Museum

It’s where we did the gamelan / wayang show, but I toured part of the museum especially the Native American section. The above is an example of the exhibit Strong Statements as a reminder of how our Native Americans are treated even now (Think: Dakota Access Pipeline).
