Oops! What’s this all about?

Picture of car with a knife ?

We saw this on the way to the airport! No, we did not stop on the side of the road. We parked the car and 10 days later drove it back home.

Editor’s note: Using a new version of WordPress, so there is a learning curve to deal with, OK?

How old is this Blog? We are 9 years old today!

We have a special engagement coming up on April 1st this year at the Music District in Fort Collins! Watch for it.

That’s Northern Colorado Climate Change:

Just Snow in the park, right?

No, it’s OLD SNOW! We don’t get old snow! It melts within 24 hours after falling. Not this stuff you see here. It’s more than a month old. Like Chicago snow. Dirty. Disgusting. Chicago snow.

On Kirchner Road

A Ghost Bike:

Yet another Memorial

Here a cyclist was run over by a dump truck and killed on Kirchner Road. The accident is marked by the bike painted white, a ‘Ghost Bike’. We’ve seen them closer to home as shown here back in November of 2013.  Kirchner road is one of those overpass roads that lets you cross the I25 highway avoiding the high traffic volume that’s typical on the Harmony road interchange about a mile north from this spot. Still, it’s the safest way to Swetsville Zoo. There is a short section over the bridge that provides very little shoulder and care must be taken when riding here. Just watch out, and please be safe.

Rock Island Line

One of the top ten hot spots in Illinois:

Lock and Dam #15

It’s the largest roller dam in the world. Designed to divert hydro-energy and help reduce soil erosion downstream, these dams are no fun for anyone caught near the rolling side.

Home of the Blues Brothers

…at least that what it says on the liner notes from one of their albums. Also note, we traveled past the towns of Joliet (as in “Joliet Jake Blues”) and Elwood (“Elwood Blues”) on our way to Chicago on this little road trip.

No wait, it says it  right here

The New Year!

Thursday, January 1st, 2015

The plan was to drum around a fire pit:

Kind of cold near midnight

But we made it through 2014, right? I mean, how bad was it anyway? Let’s see: January=completed stained glass project; February=Built a giant snow raccoon, or was that a bear?; March=Duncan had an emergency vet visit >$500!; April=LCS gets newer larger space; May=MAX bus starts free service until school starts; June=The hail Storm of the Century destroys our roof; July=RAGBRAI, of course; August=Tout de Fat with Bloco em Foco; September=Baltic Cruise; October=2nd Mini Maker Faire plus we get a new roof; November=LCS begins to move into new space; December=Zoo Lights gig plus new projects started.

We want to wish you a Merry Christmas

The Tree for 2014

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2014

This is for comparison purposes:

The Concolor Fir

This is a Rocky Mountain tree! It smells great and keeps its needles better than other types of (dead) trees. I have heard that they have a rather limited cutting season, but if we see them next year this is the type of tree we will get.

A Hub Ornament

This is a TARDIS police box on sled runners made out of candy canes. The round thing is a Fort Collins Creator Hub button.

General Stuff, etc…

Thursday, October 16th, 2014

Actually this is a general update of stuff not related to dogs, music, bikes or maker spaces.

A new food vendor in town

A new Big Box store in town

Roof! Roof!

Friday, July 18th, 2014

From the last post on Hail Here, what could you expect:

Roofing companies swoop down on our neighborhood

Just a few from the homes north of us with signs from companies located in Denver, Littleton, Longmont, Loveland, Golden and one company from someplace in Wyoming.
